Bearded Dragon Found Wandering Streets
By Lloyd Vaughan
A BEARDED dragon found wandering the streets at the weekend was rescued from his hairy adventure and is now being cared for in West Somerset.
The runaway reptile has set up home at Tropiquaria, near Watchet, after being found strolling through Bridgwater.
Rescuer Paul Taylor phoned the RSPCA after stumbling across the small reptile, near Sydenham Road.
Although the animal charity was unable to take it, they suggested he called the animal and adventure park, in the hope they could help.
Keeper Dane Bond examined the animal and found it to be in excellent condition.
She said: “We already have a number of these animals here, and although it wouldn't be a major problem to home an extra one this animal may be a much loved pet and we would ask anyone who believes they have lost such a reptile to contact us.”
Originally from Australia, bearded dragons are now regularly bred in captivity and have been described as being the nearest thing there is to a domestic reptile. Because of their size and steady temperament, they make a popular pet.
Anyone missing a bearded dragon should call Tropiquaria on 01984-640688.
